# Academy of Systems Thinking (AST)

> The Academy of Systems Thinking (AST) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that advances and protects the science and practice of systems thinking. Its motto: where systems thinking is held to the standard of science. AST keeps the AST Registry of the scientists and practitioners whose contributions built systems thinking, awards the AST Honors, and publishes the Journal of Systems Thinking (JoST).

AST evaluates contributions, not credentials. Each contribution is machine-scored against a standardized 15-point rubric, with multiple independent assessments checked for agreement. No committee selects winners. Recognition has three levels: Academy Members (field-shaping work), Contributors (significant contributions), and Commendations (promising work). Individual scores are private; only the level is public.
