These terms explain how people may use the website of the Academy of Systems Thinking (AST) at academyofsystemsthinking.org, and what AST expects of people who send it nominations and messages. They are written in plain language.
1. Using the site
Anyone may read the site, browse the AST Registry, and use its forms. No account is needed. Only AST administrators sign in.
2. Nominations
Anyone may nominate a contribution, including their own. Nominations must describe real, reviewable work and link to it.
By nominating, you confirm that what you submit is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
AST evaluates contributions against its published criteria. Submitting a nomination does not guarantee recognition, and AST is not obliged to explain individual scores, which are kept private.
AST may contact the nominator or the contributor about a nomination, using the details given in the form.
3. The AST Registry and AST Honors
Recognition is honorary and archival. It confers no duties, authority, or material benefit, and it implies no participation in or endorsement of AST.
Recognition may be conferred on living or deceased individuals without application or acceptance.
Registry entries describe contributions, not people. Recognized individuals, their estates, and colleagues may ask for an entry to be corrected using the Registry update form. AST decides what the Registry says.
4. Conduct
No spam, automated submissions, or attempts to interfere with the site.
No impersonation, and no false or misleading nominations.
No abusive or harassing messages.
AST may ignore or delete submissions that break these rules.
5. Content
The text and design of this site belong to the Academy of Systems Thinking unless noted otherwise. You may quote and link to Registry entries with attribution to AST. Papers in the Journal of Systems Thinking are published under that journal's own license at jost.science.
6. Personal information
How AST collects and uses personal information is explained in the Privacy Policy.
7. No warranty
AST provides the site as it is. AST works to keep it accurate and available but cannot promise it will always be error-free or online. Nothing on the site is professional advice.
8. Changes to these terms
AST may update these terms. The current version is always on this page, with its effective date.
